Join us on our adventures in our catamaran, Sokari,. Follow us up the Queensland coast and into South East Asia. Learn about the wonderful people who live in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand and who welcomed us as we travelled through their countries and welcomed us back whenever we returned to their villages and islands. Perhaps it will be enough just to read of the fun and thrills we have had but maybe ... just maybe ... it might encourage you to take the step yourselves. See what we have seen. Experience what we have experienced. Learn about the people and their cultures. In sum ... have a wonderful life. Cruising is a great lifestyle ... off-shore is simply the best.
John and I (Rosemary) began our cruising lifestyle in 1984, after a few years working our hireboat businesses at Bowen and Mission Beach in North Queensland. Our first yacht was a 37' O'Kell monohull called "Scylla"; our second yacht was a 43' Hartley Fijian called "C.B." that we did a makeover on, renamed "Mai Tai" then sold before building our 12 metre Simpson catamaran which was christened "Sokari".
We travelled up and down the Queensland coast numerous times accompanied by our beloved miniature/toy poodle "Minka". We wanted to travel overseas but with an elderly parent and our poodle, it wasn't practical. After Minka's death in 1997, and my dad in 1998, we made plans for our first foray overseas.
