"Since the discovery of Asian Green Mussels and Asian Bag Mussels on a vessel in the port of Cairns in December 2007, research has been ongoing to ascertain the extent of the infestation.  On February 18, 2008 Biosecurity Queensland, Department of Primary Industries & Fisheries announced that the port of Cairns was under quarantine restrictions.  All vessels intending to call into Cairns should contact them for further details.
